Hello ladies and gents, today’s post is gonna be another little chatty one so I hope you don’t mind but I wanted to just talk a little bit about my recent decision to give up the cawwwfee (please tell me you read that in a Jersey accent).
This might seem a little boring for some so I don’t mind if you want to head out but I thought it could maybe help others so I’m gonna chat about it anyway. I’ve enjoyed drinking coffee since I was about sixteen, I’d have a cup on a morning most days whether it was before uni or work or just to start off my day, I didn’t really find that it ‘kept me awake’ or get that buzz that some people drink it for, I dunno maybe I was immune ‘cos I’d drunk it for so many years but I enjoyed the taste. Over the years I’ve had a few spells where I’d give it up for a few month’s just because I found I was drinking too much of it and didn’t want it to stain my teeth or it was giving me headaches but then I would find myself slipping back, especially in the Summer months because Iced Caramel Frappes from McDonalds are literally the best!
Heya loves, so as promised a few blog posts ago I thought I would write up something about our ‘kind of’ move to Aberdeen, just to let you all know why we’re here and what the crack is … if you’re interested anyway.
So just a lil background info for anyone who is new here, myself and my boyfriend come from the North-East of England, if you’ve heard of a parmo then you know where about’s that is. Martin’s job as an engineer has him working all over the place so for about two years we were doing the long distance thing and he was just coming home on weekends. Currently he’s placed in Aberdeen and has been here for a while now and is looking to be here for quite a few more months, so one day we were both like ‘why don’t I move to Aberdeen for a bit?” The TV station I worked for has a branch in Aberdeen and after talking to my editor at the time, she was up for me transferring. This would mean more time together during the week and taking the pressure off us to be together each weekend without feeling guilty if we wanted to do something else.
A few months ago I did a post about my experience ordering from Shein, if you read it then you’ll know that I had no problems what so ever and loved pretty much everything that was sent over. Since then I’ve placed a fair few orders from the site and have been over the moon with everything, apart from one time when I ordered a pair of jeans and they didn’t arrive, but I got a full refund for those so it was fine!
Shein has got to be hands down one of my favourite websites to order clothes from, I can’t even remember the last time I went on Missguided, PLT, or any of those sites, my go to is always Shein. The amount of unique designs I come across is phenomenal, it’s kind of one of those where you know no one is going to be wearing the same thing as you, don’t get me wrong if someone asks me where I bought something I’m more than happy to share but it’s nice to know you have an item that isn’t really trending … like that Zara dress.
Here I am coming to you with another makeup/eyeshadow look, I hope you’re not getting bored of me doing these because it’s something that I’m really enjoying doing at the moment. Like I’ve said before, I’m not claiming to be an MUA or even remotely good at makeup but it’s just a lil fun we’re having over here.
For this look I was inspired by Erin Rose who is an insanely talented make up influencer that I follow on Instagram.
If you’re from the UK then I’m pretty sure you’re familiar with a shop called Home Bargains, if you’re from anywhere else then I’ll give you a little summery, it’s basically heaven … no I’m joking but it is an amazing shop that sells literally everything you can think of at super cheap prices, their face mask range is amazing.
Anyway, recently I was doing a little shop there and was browsing their make up shelves when I came across a face palette, I’ve tried a few of the lip liners and lip sticks which have been great so thought I’d give it a go. The packaging look similar to a Makeup Revolution one, pretty simple and sleek with the bronze writing and the inside had everything you could think of for your face, blush, highlight, bronzer and powder, so you best believe I popped it in my basket, plus it was like £2 or something along those lines. Don’t get me wrong I don’t expect crazy pigment or durability from it but you never know these days, those cheap brands are really showing off.
Hey you lovely lot, so today I wanted to share with you guys a few new makeup products that I picked up from Superdrug about two weeks ago. Ain’t gonna lie there’s only like four products here because we all know your girl is broke, but nevertheless I wanted to give you all my opinion on them.
It’s definitely been a minute since I bought myself some new makeup bits and bobs so testing these out has been kind of exciting … I know, I’m a saddo but I’m elderly now so leave me too it!
I know what you must be thinking, “Carolanne, you’ve done a make up look dedicated to the iced beverage that is a Tango Ice Blast?” Don’t worry I haven’t gone completely mad, I just did this look and it reminded me of an ice blast at the end so I decided to call it that … I did used to work in Cineworld many moons ago so I guess you never forget your roots!
I’ve been enjoying doing these make up look posts recently and I hope you guys have too, honestly I’m not even good at it but it’s just a bit of fun for me so please don’t take them too seriously … I know I won’t be getting on any PR lists anytime soon haha. Anyway here is the newest look and of course I will list and link everything I used below.
If you don’t know I turned twenty seven at the end of January, can someone please tell me how this happened? I feel like I’ve blinked and my twenties are almost coming to an end … slightly dramatic I know but honestly there’s something about getting past that twenty five mark that makes you shit yourself!
Anyway, what I thought would be a good idea is to write a couple of things down that if I could tell my seventeen year old self oh that decade ago, I would. I originally was going to write twenty seven things down but honestly I don’t think I’ll be able to think of that many so we’ll just see how it goes shall we?
So the other day I had to pop into Aberdeen town centre to do some errands … I also just realised I haven’t even updated you guys on the fact that I actually live in Scotland now, I promise I’ll do a post on this soon! Anyway while I was in town I thought I would swing by Primark ‘cos I was on the hunt for a new bag, my current everyday one kind of snapped (that’s what you get for swinging it at your boyfriend … jokingly of course I ain’t no Amber Heard)
Anywho, while I was there I picked up a couple of things that I thought I would share, ain’t gonna lie I could have bought so much, but I’m literally broke right now so can’t be spending. Funnily enough I didn’t buy any items of clothing, it was kind of just bits and bobs that you’re probably not going to care about but imma tell you anyway …
Like most people I think I’ve got a love/hate relationship with the gym, I love that feeling after a good work out and it definitely helps me mentally, just being able to clear your head and focus on what set you’re doing is refreshing, not to mention I feel amazing when I can see results. The hate part comes from feeling guilty when I haven’t been for a week or if I’ve been overdoing it with the treats … which I definitely do! As much as I do enjoy the gym I sometimes think to myself “Damn, I’m gonna have to do this pretty much all my life to make sure I’m kinda happy with my body” and then my mind swirls into things like how am I going to get my body back after having kids some day but that’s just an example of how dramatic I can be at times.
Anyway, for a while now I’ve wanted to invest in some quality gym clothes from actual work out brands instead of wearing my same old Primark or Vietnam spesh ones … if you know me you know what I mean! So for my birthday this year my wonderful boyfriend surprised me with some different items that honestly I’m in love with, I truly feel ten times more confident in the gym when I’m wearing these new pieces, it’s so crazy how you can tell the difference in quality straight away, I don’t know if I’ll be able to go back to high street store bits, this might be an expensive do. So I thought I would show you guys my new lil pieces and I will put links in as always …
